Compact SUV — Steering Wheel Interaction UX Prototyping
UX-focused HMI prototyping for a new compact SUV by a major Italian automotive manufacturer, evaluating steering wheel command interactions during the user experience definition phase.
The Challenge
During the early UX definition phase of a new compact SUV, the manufacturer needed to evaluate how drivers would interact with various steering wheel commands and their effect on the instrument cluster HMI. The goal was to test and refine interaction patterns before committing to the final UX specification.
Our Solution
Our founder conducted HMI prototyping using Kanzi, seamlessly integrating the prototype with the physical steering wheel hardware. This enabled the UX team to assess real-time interaction between different steering wheel commands and the instrument cluster display, testing multiple interaction models and gathering feedback to inform the final UX definition.
Results
- Real-time steering wheel-to-HMI interaction prototyping
- Multiple interaction models tested and evaluated
- Data-driven input into the final UX specification
- Reduced rework in later development phases
