Luxury Sports Car — Driving Simulator HMI Integration
HMI prototyping for a mid-engine luxury sports car by a leading Italian manufacturer, integrated with a MATLAB-driven driving simulator for comprehensive use-case testing.
The Challenge
A high-performance mid-engine sports car required HMI validation in a driving simulator environment before physical prototype vehicles were available. The challenge was to build an HMI prototype that could interface with the existing MATLAB-based driving simulator modules, enabling the team to test real driving scenarios and use cases in a virtual environment.
Our Solution
Our founder contributed to the HMI prototype development using Altia as the graphics engine and successfully integrated it with the MATLAB modules of the driving simulator. This allowed the engineering team to conduct comprehensive testing of the full range of use cases envisioned for the production system — from instrument cluster behaviour under different driving modes to real-time response to simulated vehicle dynamics.
Results
- HMI prototype fully integrated with MATLAB driving simulator
- Comprehensive use-case validation in virtual environment before physical build
- Enabled early design decisions based on realistic driving scenarios
- Reduced risk and iteration cost during later production phases
